This paper was written by Randolph Vigne, founder of the original Friends of Namibia, Chairperson for many years of the successor Namibia Support Committee and founder of the present Friends of Namibia Society. It was delivered by Randolph at the International Conference on a Decade of Freedom: Celebrating the Role of the International Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa’s Freedom Struggle (10-13 October 2004), organized by the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
